Cronan Healy scored a brace of tries as Cork Con went top of the Division One table

Cork Constitution moved top of the AIB Division One table after an emphatic victory over Buccaneers at Temple Hill on Saturday afternoon.

Four first-half tries put the game beyond doubt but it was Buccs who started the better with Sean Carey touching down in the fourth minute and Alan Gaughan converting.

That was as good as it got for the visitors as Con stepped up with three quick tries from Cronan Healy, Gareth Murray and Billy Holland.

And the bonus point was secured before half time thanks to a try from Evan Ryan to make it 25-7 at half time.

Richie Lane only managed to convert one of the tries but did add a penalty kick in a first half that the home side totally dominated.

The second half was a mere formality for Con as both Holland and Healy touched down again to secure the landslide win.

With only three top tier games taking place, Shannon took advantage and moved into third place in the table after a 22-10 victory over Dungannon.

The pitch at Coonagh was just about playable and the first half proved to be a very dull affair with a John McGuckin penalty the only score to give the visitors a 3-0 lead at the break.

And despite Tadhg Bennett’s penalty levelling matters early in the second half, Dungannon moved 10-3 ahead with the first try of the game thanks to Michael Rainey’s quick thinking, touching down after blocking Fiach O'Loughlin’s clearance and McGuckin’s conversion.

Shannon got back into the game with 15 minutes remaining thanks to Richie Mullane’s try, the winger getting on the end of a fine David O'Donovan pass.

And in the 69th minute Marcus O'Driscoll went under the posts to give the home side the lead that they never lost.

Kevin Griffin scored the third try for the Limerick men in the 76th minute but the socreline flattered the hosts with Dungannon getting no reward for their endeavours.

The only other Division One game was played in Dooradoyle, where Garryowen were victorious in the Limerick derby as they beat UL Bohemians 20-18.

It was plain sailing for the home side in the first half as they raced to a 20-0 lead at the break.

Tries from Willie Staunton and Conor Hartigan, and four scoring kicks from full-back Conor Kilroy appeared to seal the victory before the teams came out for the second half.

But the visitors were a different outfit after the break and nearly completed an amazing comeback.

Paul Grennell touched down for Bohs and the conversion and two furth penalties were added by Aidan McNulty to leave the game finely poised at 20-13 with two minutes remaining.

Then Mark Doyle went over in the 79th minute to make it a two-point game but McNulty was unable to convert and the hosts held on to move fifth in the table.

While the comeback just fell short, Bohs will take consolation in gaining a losing bonus point.

In Division Two, Lansdowne stayed top of the table thanks to a 25-5 victory over Greystones.

There was also wins for UCC, Belfast Harlequins and Ballynahinch, while Instonians and DLSP played out a 17-17 draw.

In Division Three, Corinthians went top of the table beating Portadown 25-20, while Old Wesley moved into second place thanks to a remarkable 92-7 victory over Waterpark.
