New Zealand star Daniel Carter has arrived in Perpignan to complete the formalities of his transfer to Top 14 side Perpignan.
The All Blacks fly-half, arguably the world's best player, flew into Barcelona on Sunday and will hold a press conference at the Stade Aime-Giral on Monday evening.
Carter, who will earn a reported 700,000 euros for his seven months in the south of France, will begin his stint at USAP in December.
The 26-year-old upon arriving in Barcelona following his 25-hour flight from Auckland said:
‘I am here just to meet some people and complete some administrative steps.
‘And especially to discover this beautiful city of Perpignan which I have heard so much about.’
There was little fanfare to welcome him at Barcelona airport, aside from a few photographers and reporters.
Perpignan president Paul Goze and coach Jacques Brunel were also there to greet him.
Carter added: ‘I am happy to have finally arrived. It is very exciting.
‘It is whetting my appetite for what awaits me at Perpignan.’
He will meet his new team-mates and members of the club's administrative and technical staff on Monday afternoon, before being presented to the press and the public.
On Tuesday, he will undergo a medical and attend a dinner with club sponsors and partners, and 24 hours later he will fly to London.
He returns to New Zealand on Thursday but will be back at Perpignan after the All Blacks' November Tests.
