South Africa face a mounting injury crisis ahead of Saturday's Tri-Nations encounter against arch rivals New Zealand in Durban.
On Monday, the Springboks cancelled their practice session, while adding Sharks hooker Bismarck du Plessis as cover for injured captain John Smit.
Bok team manager Zola Yeye confirmed that Smit (hamstring), Juan Smith (knee) and Gurthro Steenkamp (knee) all had to undergo fitness tests, but did not give any indication of the seriousness of the injuries.
