Australia secured a series clean sweep over Wales with an improved performance in the 31-0 victory in the second test at Brisbane's Lang Park.

Following a scrappy first 40 minutes, the home side ran away with the match in the second half with three tries as they shook off their slow start to the international season.

Debutant Digby Ioane re-ignited Australia four minutes after the break when he raced down the right wing before his counterpart Drew Mitchell matched his touchdown to earn a 24-0 lead.

Full-back Julian Huxley extended the advantage with an excellent chip and re-gather while captain Stirling Mortlock completed the scoring, slotting four penalties and two conversions.

The win was a boost for Australia, who narrowly won the first Test 29-23, and the teams' next encounter will be in the World Cup Group B match in Cardiff on September 15.
