Ulster have confirmed that David Pollock has signed a two year full contract.
David Pollock captained the Ireland U20s side to an unprecedented Grand Slam and Six Nations Championship double in 2007 and has had an exceptional 18 months as he also captained both the Ireland U19 and U21 sides that participated in their respective IRB Rugby World Championships last season.
Pollock moved up from the Ulster Rugby Academy and signed a development contract with Ulster in October 2006 which he has now upgraded to a full contract.
Pollock has just completed the second year of a medical degree which he has now put on hold for two years to concentrate on rugby.
Ulster coach Mark McCall said: ‘David is one of Ireland's brightest young players, he has all the attributes required to be a top class back row forward and we are delighted to welcome him into the professional set-up here at Ulster.’
David Pollock is also delighted and said this: ‘I am totally thrilled at signing this contract and having the chance to be involved in professional rugby for Ulster for two years and hopefully longer, I am very excited about my future at Ulster.’
