Connacht winger Conor McPhillips scored against his former club but it was not enough to deny St Mary’s College a 22-16 league win.
Former Ireland Under-21 out-half Jonathan Sexton was a leading figure as he kicked 17 points to add to centre Philip Brophy’s try.
Mary’s led 13-10 at the interval at Templeville Road having been 10-0 down thanks to McPhillips’ effort.
Brophy’s score, late in the half, began in Mary’s territory and involved some lovely hands from the forwards.
Wegians had flanker Brendan O’Connor sin-binned on 48 minutes and two penalties and a drop-goal from Sexton steered Mary’s home.
