Ireland full-back Geordan Murphy insists that his team believe they can end a run of defeats by New Zealand that stretches back over 100 years.

Ireland went agonisingly close to beating the All-Blacks in the first test last weekend, eventually going down 34-23, and Murphy is confident his side can go one step further on Saturday.

'Obviously, we were pretty disappointed on Saturday night after the match,' Murphy said. 'We felt that we let an opportunity slip but then we have another opportunity this weekend.

'The All Blacks are a tremendous side and they really showed their class and their composure under pressure. We have to learn from that and maybe take that a little bit out into our game.'

Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has named an unchanged line-up as the touring side, who led the first test 23-15 midway through the second half, bid to beat the All Blacks for the first time in 20 attempts.

'I think New Zealand will be better next week but we can get better too,' O'Sullivan said. 'We'll have to, that's the challenge for us.'

Ireland caused New Zealand plenty of problems in Hamilton, their captain Brian O'Driscoll and winger Andrew Trimble scoring tries, but the All Blacks pack more than held their own against a more experienced scrum unit.

'I think that was because we weren't aggressive in the engagement,' O'Sullivan said. 'But as the game went on I don't think there was a massive difference in the scrum and it evened up and we weren't under the same pressure.'
