Chris Paterson plans to silence the sceptics who have doubted his ability as an international quality winger with some powerful running rugby for Scotland against the Barbarians at Murrayfield tonight.
The 28-year-old came in for some criticism towards the end of the RBS Six Nations from those who believe he is too small and not quite fast enough to play on the wing in international rugby.
However, Paterson responded in the best possible way with a fine all-round display against Italy on the last weekend of the competition.
Paterson, whose prolific kicking helped him score 57 of Scotland's 78 points during this year's Six Nations, played the full match against Italy despite a painful knee injury and scored a try, a conversion and a penalty in the process.
Now the Edinburgh player wants to reinforce his point by using tonight's match to demonstrate just how devastating he can be with the ball in hand.
'Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I am not going to get too over-concerned about that sort of criticism,' he said.
'I lost the ball in contact a couple of times against Wales and England, which obviously I would rather had not happened, but it doesn't make me a bad player and I am still confident in my own ability.'
