Irish international David Humphreys has announced he is to retire from international rugby with immediate effect.
He will continue to play for Ulster until the end of the 2007/2008 season with an option of another season, after which he is expected to hang up his boots for good.
Humphreys made his debut against France in 1996 and won 72 caps, scoring 560 points for Ireland.
The Ulster out-half captained the province to European Cup glory in January 1999.
Humphreys captained Ireland for the fifth time in the November 2005 win over Romania, his last playing appearance, he sat on the replacements bench for this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship.
