Chris Paterson has warned England that Scotland are in their most confident mood for years ahead of the Calcutta Cup clash at Murrayfield tomorrow.
The Scots claimed an excellent win over France on the opening day of the RBS 6 Nations Championship before losing 28-18 to Wales in Cardiff.
However, Andy Robinson's team are beginning to find their own form again following wins over Wales and Italy so far this year.
Paterson said: 'We have to be confident. England are the only team who can win the Grand Slam and we would love to stop them doing that. But they are a better team than they have been in the last two occasions we have faced them.'
'After the World Cup, quite understandably, there was some fall-out with some players retiring. But they are now looking forward to the World Cup next year and they are a far stronger team than they have been.'
'Physically, they will try to dominate us, we know that, because they have a massive forward pack. But their backs are underestimated and, as a unit, they can win games single-handedly. However, the tendency from England is to win the game physically and then use the backs.'
