Scottish international Dan Parks insists that his team's Six Nations momentum has not been lost despite defeat to Wales earlier this month.
The Scots opened up their campaign with a thrilling 20-16 win over pre-tournament favourites France at Murrayfield. But, at the Millennium Stadium seven days later, a number of early errors - coupled with the dismissal of Scott Murray for lashing out at Ian Gough – cost the Scots as the Welsh ran out 28-18 winners.
However, Parks believes another sterling display against Andy Robinson's side in the Calcutta Cup clash will exorcise the Cardiff disappointment. The Glasgow Warriors stand-off said: "We were pretty proud of our efforts after what happened against Wales.
"We were disappointed not to get the win but we were reasonably happy with the display. There were a lot of errors in the first part of the game and, while losing 28-18 was not a good result, it could have been a lot worse."
"Now we are all looking forward to the game on Saturday. It is always exciting to play England. It has been a tough week so far in training but everyone is relishing the chance to play," Parks added.
"England have been playing very well and are deservedly the tournament favourites. They are playing powerful rugby and are such a big team who are very hard to stop."
Scotland have not beaten the world champions since April 2000 when a win in the final game of the tournament prevented England completing the Grand Slam.
But Parks feels that the arrival of Frank Hadden as head coach has heralded a new impetus for the team. "Frank has been fantastic. He gives the players a lot of confidence from the way he coaches," he claimed.
