Prop Gethin Jenkins is ready to come to Wales' rescue because of mounting injury problems ahead of Sunday's RBS 6 Nations Championship clash against rejuvenated Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.
The Lions star is more renowned as a loosehead prop but is set to fill Wales' troublesome number three jersey against the Scots.
With Chris Horsman already out for the whole championship and Adam Jones sidelined with a dead leg following the 47-13 hammering by England last weekend, Jenkins is in line for his first Wales start since last season's Grand Slam-sealing win against Ireland.
Jenkins came on at Twickenham but has had little rugby since returning from a shoulder operation following the Lions tour to New Zealand last summer.
He said: "I played there a bit on Saturday and I've played there one game this year for Cardiff, and the time before that was the British Lions' second game in the summer.
"I'm ready to play there. I played there last year and I'm starting to get used to it.
"My performance levels aren't anywhere near where they were last year and I'm disappointed with that but I've only played five games since coming back from injury and I wouldn't say I'm fully back into it yet."
Jenkins admits much will be expected of defending champions Wales in their first home outing of the championship.
He said: "There is big pressure on us this weekend. No-one wants to get off to a losing start but now we have a chance to go back to the Millennium Stadium and show some of the form that won us the Grand Slam last year.
"We are disappointed the way the result turned out against England and certain aspects of our performance weren't great.
"But we want to turn it around this week and put a good performance."
But with Scotland having got off to a rousing start with a win over France Jenkins knows it will not be easy on Sunday.
He added: "The victory over France was a great win for them. They played with a different style to last year and it's going to be a real tough game for us on Sunday."
Jenkins is set to be at least one change in the starting line-up when coach Mike Ruddock announces his side tomorrow.
With Gareth Delve back from a hamstring problem and Gareth Cooper out with a dislocated shoulder, there are expected to be two changes on the bench.
Delve should return instead of Adam M Jones and Llanelli Scarlets scrum-half Mike Phillips will replace Cooper.
