Reserve prop Nic Henderson will join the Australia squad ahead of next week's Test against Ireland as cover for Matt Dunning, who injured his neck in Saturday's 26-16 loss to England.
Dunning left the field in a neck brace after a scrum collapsed 10 minutes from full-time.
He was cleared of any spinal damage after undergoing x-rays and MRI scans but is in doubt for the match against Ireland at Lansdowne Road.
"I just felt a bit of strain in my neck and the medical staff wanted to make sure we did everything right and be cautious," Dunning said in a statement released by the Australian Rugby Union.
"The scans have revealed it's just a joint strain which is good news."
Henderson made his test debut last year as a replacement against the Pacific Islanders when he was called in to replace the injured Dunning the day before the match.
He earned a second cap when he came on as a replacement against Samoa this season. Henderson was overlooked for the full tour squad in Europe but was included in the Australia A side that beat the French Barbarians.
