Richie McCaw has given the All Blacks an injury scare ahead of tomorrow's clash against Wales.
The star flanker, a key player during New Zealand's 3-0 Test series demolition of the Lions, is due to be on replacement duty.
But he suffered a wrist injury in training and will be assessed by All Blacks medical staff ahead of the Millennium Stadium showdown.
New Zealand coach Graham Henry is remaining optimistic about his chances of making the bench. He said: "I have not heard anything else from the doctor, who I will be seeing later this morning about it."
With McCaw among the substitutes Henry has handed a Test debut to 26-year-old Taranaki flanker Chris Masoe for New Zealand's opening game of their four-Test
Great Britain and Ireland tour.
