The draw for the inaugural AIB Cup has seen Munster rivals Shannon and Cork Constitution pitted against each other in round one of the competition.

The clash is undoubtedly the tie of the round with the seven-times Division One champions Shannon squaring up to the Cork opposition on December 18.

Another interesting clash is the meeting of top flight sides Buccaneers and Ballymena in the only preliminary round fixture
on Saturday November 12.

The first round, which takes place over the weekend of December 17-18, will also see Tipperary club Cashel, the only junior club in the competition, face Division One regulars Galwegians at Crowley Park.

The first round winners will go into the hat again for the quarter-finals, which will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006. 

Saturday, February 25 is the date for the semi-finals, while the new competition culminates with the AIB Cup Final on Saturday, April 8. The venue for which is yet to be confirmed.
