Munster have named their squad to play the Borders at Thomond Park on Friday night.
Seven of those involved in Ireland's summer tour to Japan, Peter Stringer, Marcus Horan, Frank Sheahan, Trevor Hogan, David Wallace Denis Leamy and Alan Quinlan are included.
Coach Declan Kidney is not expected to name his starting XV until later in the week.
Meanwhile Anthony Foley has been named as captain of the Munster squad for the coming season.
Foley begins the year with 141 Munster caps to his credit and thus becomes the most capped player in Munster history.
