Ben Kay faces a race to be fit for Leicester's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leinster at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

The England lock is still struggling with a sprained ankle that he picked up against Scotland in the final match of the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

"Ben is struggling to make it," according to Tigers coach John Wells. "At the moment, at best he will be on the bench and, at worst, not at all."

"But the one good thing to come out of the Leeds game was the fact that there are no further injuries."

If Kay is unable to start, the impressive Louis Deacon is likely to continue to partner captain Martin Johnson in the second row.

Leicester suffered a surprise 23-22 defeat to the Premiership's bottom side Leeds at Headingley on Sunday.
