Ulster have signed specialist open-side flanker, Gavin Pfister after they suffered a number of injuries to back-row players, the most serious having ruled Neil McMillan out of rugby for the entire season.
Pfister will join on a short-term contract and joins the province from Pertemps Bees in National Division 1. However, the 30 year old South African will be restricted to Celtic League appearances after missing the deadline for Heineken Cup squad registration.
The flanker, who has previously played rugby for Free State and Western Province, moved to England and signed with Worcester at the beginning of the 2001-02 season.
He spent two seasons at Sixways where he helped the club win promotion to the Zurich Premiership and gained a reputation as a prolific try-scorer and strong back-row forward.
