Ireland manager Eddie O'Sullivan is hungry for revenge against South Africa, following their defeat at the hands of the Springboks in June.

The Triple Crown winners were beaten in both tests when they toured South Africa in the summer, and were stung by the criticism of Springbok coach Jake White.

However, with the Lansdowne Road crowd behind them and a point to prove, Irish boss O'Sullivan believes that his side can silence the critics and gain a measure of revenge when they take on the South Africans on Saturday.

O'Sullivan said: "This match is even more juicy now that South Africa are Tri-Nations champions. After seeing some of the comments made by their coach before we arrived in South Africa, I can say they obviously didn't give us - or Irish rugby in general - a lot of credit."

"They did beat us, so I can't say too much about it - but I think they don't hold us in very high esteem. The guys were disappointed in June. We felt we could have won at least one of the matches. But now the focus is on having a crack at them in Dublin," he added.

Despite having home advantage, O'Sullivan still believes his side will have to be at their very best if they are to beat the Tri-Nations champions, a team who are still improving.

"They're a better team than they were in June. They've matured and have more games under their belt. They haven't lost any of their physicality," he warned.

"They've stated their mission is to come here and win a Grand Slam. That's a pretty big task, so they're obviously very confident in their capacity to deliver. A confident Bok is always a tough prospect."
