Following the results of a scan earlier today, which revealed a groin muscle injury, Gordon D'Arcy has been ruled out of the permanent tsb Autumn international against South Africa.

D'Arcy will visit a groin specialist at the end of the week to determine a course of treatment. Following this consultation, more information regarding the injury may be available.

Meanwhile, Irish coach Eddie O'Sullivan has added five players to his squad for the autumn internationals against South Africa, USA and Argentina.

Ulster's Roger Wilson and Leinster duo Eric Miller and Victor Costello are the forwards included.

Gavan Duffy and John Kelly are added to the backs.

Miller and Kelly have not been involved with the side since the 41-23 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France a year ago.

An upsurge in form from Costello, whose last of 39 caps came in the Triple Crown win over Scotland in March, sees him also included.

23-year-old Wilson will be bidding to make his international debut in the series.

Duffy's one and only cap came as a substitute in June's 26-17 second test loss to the Springboks in Cape Town.
