Munster yesterday completed the signing of former Australian international lock Tom Bowman, just hours before the Celtic League transfer deadline.

The 28-year-old is expected to cover for the loss of fellow Antipodean David Pusey, whose shoulder injury is keeping him out of action until Christmas.

Bowman, a 15-times capped Wallaby, is awaiting confirmation of a work permit in order to take his place in Munster's squad for their opening Celtic League tie against the Ospreys.

The sides are due to meet again on October 31 in the Heineken Cup and either side could strike an important psychological blow this weekend.

Munster are missing ten internationals who are still completing their extended pre-season campaign.

The Munster back-line has a strong look about it, with former Ospreys player James Storey starting in the centre for his new side.

"James has done very well for us in pre-season and I have no hesitation putting him in against his old club," said Gaffney.

The coach gives Ireland Under-21 star Shane O'Connor a chance in the second-row, with Denis Leamy returning to competitive action after a long spell on the sidelines with injury.

Jim Williams is expected to captain the side from number eight.

Munster:  C Cullen; S Payne, M Mullins, J Storey, A Horgan; P Burke, M Prendergast; F Roche, J Flannery, G McIlwham; S O'Connor, T Hogan; S Keogh, D Leamy, J Williams.

Replacements: J Kelly, J Holland, E Reddan, M Storey, J Blaney, J O'Connor, D Ryan
