Irish scrum-half Guy Easterby is set to join Leinster. The 33-year-old Ireland international was in Dublin yesterday and had talks with the province's hierarchy.

Coach Declan Kidney was keen to boost his squad ahead of the new season. At present , Brian O'Meara and Brian O'Riordan share scrum-half duties.

Easterby, capped 26 times for Ireland, moved from Llanelli back to Rotheram last May.  Rotherham failed to win a game in the Zurich Premiership last season and were subsequently relegated.

Easterby won the last of his caps in the second Test against South Africa last month when he came on as a second-half replacement for the out-of-form Peter Stringer.

Easterby is the second cross-channel Ireland international to sign for a provincial side following Kevn Maggs joining the Ulster set-up.
