The Irish team will take on South Africa in June

Ireland's tour of South Africa will go ahead as planned after the IRFU and the Irish Rugby Players Association reached an agreement relating to pay issues. The row, which had been simmering for weeks, was finally settled yesterday when the players agreed a fee of €5,000.

The IRFU had initially offered €2,500 a man before eventually upping the offer to €4,500 – both of which were refused.

Yesterday though an offer of €5,000 was agreed on and the squad will now leave for South Africa next Saturday, with the first match against the Springboks on June 12 and the second a week later on June 19.
