Ireland's rugby league team lost 64-6 to Russia in their final group match of the Victory Cup in Moscow. The hosts produced some scintillating running rugby to run in six tries in each half, with skipper Kirill Koulemine registering a first-half hat-trick and centre Oleg Toukov following suit in the second half. Toukov also kicked eight goals for a personal tally of 28 points.
Ireland trailed 26-0 at half-time but had the consolation of opening the second half scoring as loose forward and captain Mel Alker went in at the corner for a try and second row forward Steve Flannery kicked a magnificent conversion.
Russia will now play in their second Victory Cup final against BARLA Great Britain on Thursday.
