Irish squad to face French is announced

Munster wing John Kelly and Ulster second row Gary Longwell have both been omitted from Eddie O'Sullivan's 22 man Irish squad for the opening six nations game against France on Saturday week.

Rob Henderson, David Wallace, John Kelly, Mike Mullins, Anthony Horgan and Rob Henderson are other notable absentees but Leinster's Gordon D'arcy is among the 22 following a string of good performances for Leinster in recent weeks.

Brian O'Driscoll resumed training today after his recovery from a hamstring injury and he has been included.

The starting team to play France will be named at lunchtime on Tuesday.
