Australia and Queensland Reds full-back Chris Latham has turned down a move to Munster. Latham now looks likely to stay with Super 12 side Queensland after Munster officials claimed that pressure had been put on the player to stay in Brisbane by the Queensland Rugby Union.
Munster PRO Pat Geraghty told 'The Australian' newspaper: "The QRU put a lot of pressure on him because they didn't want him to go. I presume that the pressure has paid off."
Reds chief executive Jeff Miller said in a statement: "I'm delighted to say that Chris has had a change of heart and wants to stay with Queensland. We still have a few issues to iron out but I'm confident he will put pen to paper this week."
"Latham had been linked with a move to European Cup semi-finalists Munster, but is understood to have informed the Irish side last night of his decision to stay with Queensland," the Reds said.
