Clontarf have taken over at the top of the All-Ireland League First Division after a 16-3 victory over Terenure College at Lakelands yesterday.
In a match strewn with handling errors, Clontarf led 9-0 at the break through three penalties by full back Darragh O'Shea. A Richie Governey penalty got Terenure off the mark shortly after the restart but a Gareth Rossi try and subsequent O'Shea conversion in the 75th minute comprehensively sealed the victory, and top spot, for Clontarf.
Garryowen continued their recent good form with a 34-13 win over Cork Constitution. Paul Neville, Simon Kerr, Billy Treacy and Dermot McInerney all went over for Garryowen, with Donnchadha O'Callaghan scoring Cork Con's only try in the first half.
Elsewhere, UCD eased their relegation worries with a 23-19 win over UL Bohemians at Thomond Park; champions Shannon came from ten points down to edge out Co Carlow 18-10; while Buccaneers eked out an 8-3 victory over Lansdowne in Ballinasloe.
