Connacht overcome Leinster

Mark McHugh was the Connacht hero in their Celtic League clash with Leinster after his last minute drop-goal snatched victory at Donnybrook.

Connacht started brightly and Chris Keane drew first blood when he crossed the line and Elwood converted. Wayne Munn then got in on the act to stretch his side's advantage with Elwood again cooly converting.

However, Leinster came roaring back - Keith Gleeson scored a brace tries which were both converted by Brian O'Meara, who matched Elwood stride for stride in the penalty stakes, but it was the boot of McHugh that proved the difference between the sides as his injury time drop-goal settled affairs.

In Edinburgh, Munster enjoyed a fruitful night, beating their hosts 21-28 thanks to a last gasp try by Rob Henderson and a fine kicking display from Jeremy Staunton.

Elsewhere Cardiff triumphed over the newly formed Borders side, winning 18-15, while Pontypridd claimed victory over Bridgend by a similar score.
