The Ireland Wolfhounds ended their Four Nations campaign on a high note with a comprehensive 70-12 win over Scotland’s Bravehearts in Belfast. Ireland’s victory never looked in doubt, and was led by a standout performance from player-coach Brett Maron, who notched up a hat-trick of tries.
Ireland’s 17 included two players from the fledgling Belfast club, with the rest all coming from players who competed in the RLI’s own domestic championship.
The game provides great hope for competitive League to be played on a regular basis in Northern Ireland, and for the Ireland team to be a truly formidable force in the 2003 Four Nations competition.
The climax and finale of the Rugby League season in Ireland will take place on August 24th when Dublin Blues play Dublin City Exiles in the championship Grand Final at Westmanstown.
