Fiji trounced Tonga 47-20 in Nadi to qualify for next year's World Cup finals in Australia as Pacific champions. The seven tries to two win saw Fiji pip Samoa to top spot in the Pacific Tri-Nations qualifying section on points difference, winning a spot in Pool B at the finals alongside France and Scotland.
Samoa now face the daunting prospect of playing World Cup hopefuls South Africa and England in their pool while Tonga, who were already certain of finishing last in the group, must take the play-off route to keep their finals dreams alive. Fiji ran out convincing winners as they ran in tries from Ifereimi Rawaqa, Isaac Mow, Narruhn, Seta Tawake and Vili Satala with full-back Norman Ligairi crossing twice.
