Kidney hopes for slice of luck

Munster coach Declan Kidney is hoping his team get the little bit of luck which has deserted them in recent years in tomorrow's Heineken Cup final. Munster lost the 2000 final 9-8 to Northampton and went down by a single point in last season's semi-final, losing 16-15 to French outfit Stade Francais. But Kidney, who leaves the job after the Cardiff clash to join Ireland's national set-up, said: "There is no substitute for hard work and the first thing is that you have to be in contention. Once you're in contention luck can play its part on the day - so we'll be hoping for a bit of luck this time round."

He continued: "The Heineken Cup has been an incredible experience for me from start to finish. You end up living it rather than playing or coaching it - literally living the competition and the experience. I have so many memories of the different games and occasions - I truly treasure all my videos. Now is not really the time to look back, but when I do it won't take long for it all to come flooding back. As for the ending, I think as long as we play to our best, with honesty and endeavour, I will go out on a high - whatever the result. That is all I ever ask."

Both line-ups will be announced later today. Leicester are unlikely to veer from their semi-final side, while lock Paul O'Connell and flanker Jim Williams have proved Munster's main fitness concerns.
