Perugini gets 20-week suspension

Italy's Salvatore Perugini has been suspended for 20 weeks for head-butting Ireland's Peter Stringer in their Six Nations clash at Lansdowne Road last weekend. The Italy prop was shown a yellow card after the incident and was subsequently called before the Six Nations disciplinary committee by independent citing commissioner Russell Howell for striking an opponent with head.

The 20-week suspension which has been handed down to Perugini is in line with current International Rugby Board guidelines for such an offence. The L'Aquila prop now has 48 hours in which to launch an appeal.
