North Kildare Rugby Club announce the launch of North Kildare Knights Rugby League team, making North Kildare the first dual code club in Ireland. Following on the heels of Leeds Rhinos/Tykes and Orrel/Wigan, North Kildare have formed a Rugby League team to play in this summer's Leinster league.
“We have enthusiastic players at the club and want to use this chance to improve their skills in tackling, defence and improve fitness for the winter” says David Kingston, a former Ireland Students Rugby League International. He is the new team’s coach and also a coach with the Union second's team at the club.
He added, “There is a great buzz around the club about this exciting development. The players can’t wait to show off their skills on a new stage."
