Brian O’Driscoll believes that England will be out for revenge in Ireland’s Six Nations Championship game against England at Twickenham on Saturday. Ireland produced a superb performance last Autumn to beat Clive Woodward’s side at Lansdowne Road and deprive them of the Grand Slam.
"It’s going to be extremely difficult. We are well aware of how good a side the English are at home. They showed in the autumn internationals against South Africa and Australia how clinical they can be when it comes to finishing games off," O’Driscoll said. "I think our job is just to stick with them for the whole game and maybe try and win it in the last 20 minutes when they are maybe a little unsure of themselves."
O’Driscoll believes that putting the doubt factor into the English mind maybe the way to unlock their defence. "I think that if you stick with them for 70 to 75 minutes they perhaps do start doubting themselves and that’s when mistakes come. I think that happened in the autumn when we defeated them in Lansdowne Road. The mistakes came in the last 10 minutes when they had their backs against the wall. We’ll be looking for something similar along those lines and give it a good go on Saturday," O’Driscoll said.
"I’d like to think that one of our goals for this year is to keep performances at a consistent level. That’s what makes a good side, a team that can play perhaps a fraction below par and still turn out a result. Certainly the English have done that over the past number of years and we’ll be giving it our best to do so in the coming months," O’Driscoll added.
