Gatland accepts Wasps offer

Sacked Irish coach Warren Gatland has revealed that he has accepted an offer to become the forwards coach of English club Wasps. The New Zealander has received a number of job offers since his shock sacking by the Irish Rugby Football Union in late November. These are understood to have included a position with his former club, Waikato, in New Zealand.

According to the Sunday Times, Gatland has decided to link up with Wasps following an approach by the club's director of rugby Nigel Melville. Gatland is currently in New Zealand for a six-week break and is due to return on January 24th.

For the immediate future, Gatland plans to keep his family in Galway and will commute to London in the short term. Gatland consulted current New Zealand coach John Mitchell before agreeing to take on the Wasps role.
