The AIB League sub-committee for breaches of regulations has today punished three clubs that were adjudged to have fielded unregistered players this season. Ballynahinch from Division Two were found to have played an unregistered overseas player on October 6 and the four League points they obtained in this match have been deducted. Division Three side Banbridge played an ineligible overseas player on October 6, October 27 and November 3 so the one League point obtained in these matches has been deducted.
City of Derry, who compete in Division Two, were found to have played an unregistered overseas player on September 29, October 6 and October 27 under the name of a registered player. Therefore, the six points they earned from these three matches plus an extra two points have been deducted and a fine of £4,000 imposed for impersonation.
