St Mary's and Galwegians both registered victories over Ballymena and UCD respectively in the AIB League Division One this afternoon.
Ballymena 15-20 St Mary's
St Mary's led 14-6 at half-time with tries courtesy of Kieren Lewis in the 21st minute and Peter Copeland in the 26th minute with Barry Lynn adding both conversions. Peter McIntosh kept the home-side in touch kicking two penalties. At the restart, McIntosh kicked two penalties to reduce the deficit to two points. Lynn and McIntosh exchanged penalties before Lynn scored his second penalty to seal victory for St Mary's.
UCD 19-22 Galwegians
Galwegians secured their first win in three games and broke UCD's winning streak with a 22-19 victory over the students at Belfield today. Owen Hickey landed two penalties for the students after 23 minutes but Galwegians came back into the game when Bryan Shelbourne kicked three penalties to give Galwegians a 6-9 lead at half-time. A try from UCD captain Shane Moore and a further two penalties and a conversion from Hickey failed to get the students on top as Shelbourne scored two more penalties and converted the only try which came from a penalty try to secure victory for the visitors.
