St Mary’s and UCD both scored victories in the AIB All-Ireland League Division One at Templeville Road and Temple Hill this afternoon. This is UCD's second win in their first season in Division One following their win over Shannon last week.
St Mary’s 32-20 Buccaneers
Four tries and a bonus point gave St Mary’s a well-deserved 32-20 victory over Buccaneers in the AIL Division One at Templeville Road this afternoon. Trailing 13-3 at half-time, St Mary’s Dave Clare went over for the first try followed by tries from Karl Jennings, Conor McPhillips and Alan Conboy. Conboy’s try rounded off a great personal tally which consisted of three conversions and two penalty goals. Ted Robinson scored Buccaneers first-half try while Buccaneers also scored a penalty try after a scrum collapse near the St Mary’s line. Colm Glynn converted both of the tries as well as scoring a penalty goal and a drop goal.
Cork Con 12-18 UCD
UCD maintain their unbeaten streak in the AIL Division One with a 12-18 win over Cork Con at Temple Hill this afternoon. Cork Con opened the scoring with a Conor Mahony penalty in the fifth minute. However, Dermot O’Sullivan went over for his first try of the match in the 12th minute which was converted by Eoin Hickey to give the lead to the students. Three successive penalties from Mahony gave the lead back to Con before O’Sullivan ran 40 metres to score his second try for the students to leave it 12-12 at half time. In the second half, two penalties from Hickey ensured victory for the students.
