Connacht look to return to winning ways

Connacht will be looking to get back to winning ways when they entertain Neath at the Galway Sportsground in the Celtic League this evening. Steph Nel's side will be hoping to emulate last year's victory over the Welsh outfit, their only win in the Heineken Shield, but unbeaten Neath will be confident of maintaining their impressive early form.

Neath became Connacht's only victims in last season's Shield competition as they went down to a 13-11 defeat after winning their home encounter 45-0. But the province pulled off the biggest shock of the Celtic League to date with their 6-3 opening weekend win over Cardiff at the Arms Park. However, subsequent defeats to Edinburgh and Munster have left Connacht in an all too familiar position at the wrong end of the table after squandering a healthy half-time lead at home against the Reivers, before going down to a 30-21 defeat.

Munster then recorded a convincing 40-19 win to leave Connacht on three points, while Neath sharpened up for their return trip to the west coast with a 30-22 home win over Munster - a game in which Lee Jarvis scored a Celtic League record 30 points.

Meanwhile, Ulster travel to Ebbw Vale, while Munster play Newport at Musgrave Park. There is a 7.35pm kick-off in Cork and the game will be screened live on TG4.
