Wales' Bridgend staged a stunning second-half comeback to beat Glasgow 50-15 in Pool A of the Celtic League. Trailing at the interval by 10-9 they hit back strongly in the second half with five tries to demolish their opponents with Cerith Rees converting all five to add to five penalties for a personal contribution of 25 points.
James Craig scored the opening try of the match when he took advantage of some shadow tackling by the Bridgend three-quarters to score and Barry Irving converted to put the Scotsmen into an early lead. Irving added a penalty to cancel out a third first half kick by Rees just before the interval.
However, Welsh international Gareth Thomas sprinted over immediately after a resumption after linking well with John Funnell. Rees converted and then succeeded with his fourth penalty to see Bridgend comfortably back into the lead. Full back Adrian Durston registered a second try for Bridgend following a break by Shawn van Rensburg and Gareth Jones took a pass on the halfway line and raced over for Bridgend's third try.
Bridgend were now running wild and tries followed quickly from Mama Molitika and Gareth Thomas, his second of the match. Rees' fifth conversion brought up the half century of points for the home side. Glasgow were well beaten but Rowland Reid went over for a last-minute consolation try for them.
In the night's other game, Cardiff came out top against Welsh rivals Newport in Pool B, winning 20-14 to claim their first win of the campaign.
