Ulster finalise 2001-02 squad

Ulster have announced the signing of South African forward Robbie Brink. The veteran flanker will be a big boost ahead of their Heineken Cup assault this season as the province attempt to plot the downfall of 2001 beaten finalists Stade Francais, Wasps and Italian side Treviso in Group 2. He arrived in Belfast last night and began training with the Ulster squad today.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a highly successful career with Western Province in his native South Africa, and crowned ten years at the club by helping them to this year's Currie Cup. He will link up with former Western Preovince and Stormers boss Alan Solomons who was recently appointed Ulster's new manager.

Along with the introduction of Brink, there are three other new faces in Ulster's squad for next season. David Allen, an open side flanker, has decided to give up his career in Australia in favour of following his Irish ancestry with a move to Ulster. He arrives in Belfast on Friday. He will be joined by Adam Larkin, a former centre with North Harbour, Castres and New Zealand, who is another Irish qualified player while 30-year-old Matt Sexton, a Canterbury hooker, will join the squad in September.
