Nathan Williams and Shane Drahm are nursing more than hangovers after they were dropped from the Reds team to meet the Lions on Saturday for disciplinary reasons. The pair missed a curfew and were out to almost dawn after the Queensland President’s XV 83-6 loss to the Lions in Townsville on Tuesday night.
The night out cost Williams a probable starting spot at fullback, while Drahm would have started from the bench. The pair were sprung when coach Mark McBain was leaving the team hotel to board an early flight back to Brisbane and McBain said Wednesday morning’s effort just “wasn’t good enough.”
"They should have known better," McBain said. "Going out like that on a Tuesday night before a Saturday night game simply isn't on."
