Jonny Wilkinson once again sat out Lions training in Perth today, but coach Graham Henry's injury worries are easing ahead of Friday's tour opener against Western Australia. Wilkinson was one of only two men to miss out on today's three-hour session. England team-mate Austin Healey also missed the session after contracting a chill in the unseasonably cool temperatures which have greeted the tourists on their first week Down Under. Although Healey is expected to be available for selection this weekend, Wilkinson seems unlikely to make it as he is still troubled by a groin strain which was picked up before the 37-man party flew out to face the Wallabies.
However, Henry will probably have more options than he might have previously thought. Welsh prop David Young was able to take a full part in training for the first time since his arrival, giving his injured calf a thorough workout. International team-mates Neil Jenkins and Martin Williams were also on the training ground after recovering from the after-effects of a cut eye and ankle problem respectively.
Former Wigan rugby league star Jason Robinson may also be introduced, as he attempts to complete an unbelievable nine-month rise from union rookie to fully-fledged Lion after also overcoming an ankle knock.
Western Australia are one of the weakest provincial sides, and Henry will name his team tomorrow. His task has been made harder by the decision of Wallabies coach Rod Macqueen to insist that prospective Test stars such as Rod Kafer and Ben Tune are included in the home side. (PA)
