English RFU under threat

England's top clubs are finalising plans to wrest control of their commercial destiny away from the Rugby Football Union (RFU), The Guardian newspaper reported today. Nigel Wray, who owns the Saracens club, said that all 12 premier league teams had decided to act together after being frustrated by months of delays and disappointments in their dispute with the national body.

"We are forming our own plan, essentially so we can get on with life," Wray told The Guardian today. "I don't know of any other walk of life where small businesses don't make their own decisions and leave it to the federations." The clubs are expected to make their move by the end of the month.
