Ulster appoint new Director of Coaching

The Ulster Branch of the IRFU has confirmed the new Director of Coaching as Alan Solomons. Solomons (50) is recognised as one of South Africa's most progressive coaches with a very attacking modern philosophy.

A qualified barrister, he is currently coach of South Africa's most successful Super 12 side, the Western Stormers. He was assistant coach to the mighty Springboks for three years, during which period they achieved their world record 17 test victories on the trot. He has also coached Western Province and Oxford University. The remainder of the coaching team will be finalised at a later date, however the current Ulster assistant coach, Mark McCall, has already been offered a position as an assistant coach. Solomons will take control from the start of June.
