Rugby: Australia win their first Tri-Nations title

World Champions Australia narrowly beat South Africa in a tight decider to capture their first Tri-Nations title in Durban this afternoon. Winger Stirling Mortlock was the hero for the Wallabies, scoring a touchline penalty with the last kick of the game to earn Australia a 19-18 victory. The only try of the match came after 39 minutes from Aussie fullback Chris Latham to give the Wallabies a 13-6 half-time lead. Mortlock converted the try and, combined with his four penalty kicks, finished with a personal tally of 14 points.
