Tom Curry has urged England to keep their heads and embrace the occasion when they clash with Fiji in Sunday's World Cup quarter-final.

Steve Borthwick's team are favourites to avenge their first-ever defeat to Fiji at Twickenham, but Curry knows the importance of channelling emotions in the right way.

The backrower was handed a two-game ban for his red card in the pool opener against Argentina for a head-on-head high tackle, his yellow card for a head-on-head contact with Pumas full-back Juan Cruz Mallia upgraded to red after World Rugby's bunker review system.

"It's exciting, isn't it? These are the games that you love to play in. Growing up as a kid and watching the World Cup, knock-out rugby is where you want to be," Curry said.

"There's huge excitement building into this game, but you want to grab hold of that and run with it - use it.

"We don't want to go out of control, we want to do what we've been practising for the last two or three months. The excitement can only be a positive."

Fiji prevailed 30-22 when the rivals last met as England's build-up to the World Cup reached its lowest ebb and Curry is eager to see how much each team has developed since then.

"Honestly, we're a different team. You're always constantly learning. It can only help. Fiji have probably got better, we've got better. We'll find out Sunday," Curry said.
