Ireland are through to a World Cup quarter-final with New Zealand after hammering Scotland 36-14 in Paris.
The game was over a contest after 40 minutes as Ireland racked up four tries against a toothless opposition.
Here's how we rated the team.
Hugo Keenan – 8
Rock solid at the back, even if slightly lucky to get a call in his favour when he looked to have slipped over the touchline. Took his two tries incredibly well, one coming off a poor Johnny Sexton pass. Made 66 metres with ball in hand. Mr Consistent and a key cog in Ireland game plan.
Mack Hansen – 6
Was his usual busy self and unlucky not to grab a try when taking Peter O'Mahony’s pop pass close to the line. Carried and tackled well before being replaced by Stuart McCloskey on 22 minutes. Only lasted a few minutes on his return. Seemed to be stiff when walking around after the match.
Garry Ringrose – 8
Another outstanding performance, has reached a level where we’ve come to expect only the best on both sides of the ball. Was heavily involved in the first two tries and took the fifth Irish score well from the wing. A missed tackle count of seven doesn’t tell the whole story.
Bundee Aki – 8
Not player of the match for the third time in a row but still a powerful influence in the Irish midfield, carries with intent and brains. Made 12 tackles and a vital cog in the second try.
James Lowe – 7
Andy Farrell will be hoping that he gets the all-clear for next week. He took the opening try well, with most of the hard work done in advance. Got an accidental poke in the eye from Tadhg Beirne midway through the first half and was taken off at the break, hopefully as a precaution.
Johnny Sexton – 8
Prime-time Sexton. Ran the attack as we’ve come to expect, taking the ball to the line and drawing in defenders each time. Withdrawn on 45 minutes after Ireland had got their fifth try. Kicked three conversions. We can ask no more of the captain.
Jamison Gibson-Park – 8
Kept the motor ticking as Ireland racked up four first-half tries, kicked well when required. Had to move to the wing when Lowe and Hansen were off but took to the task with relish, coming off his flank to get involved. Came up with a jackal penalty near the end. Official player of the match.
Andrew Porter – 7
Held up the scrum and part of a flawless Irish lineout. Won a brilliant turnover when Scotland had a spell of possession in the Irish half. Finished with 13 tackles from 13 attempts.
Dan Sheehan – 8
Now fully fit after a foot injury in the warm-up games, Sheehan brings incredible energy around the field on both sides of the ball. Never a doubt that he would finish off when the ball came to him on the wing. Made 30 metres on the run.
Tadhg Furlong – 6
Was blamed for an early penalty loss at the scrum and not his usual self again in the loose. Possibly playing through pain. Needed attention before going off but didn’t look too uncomfortable post-match.
Tadhg Beirne – 8
Took three lineouts and made 13 tackles and got himself a turnover. Always seemed available to carry and support.
Iain Henderson – 8
Excellent return to the starting XV by the Ulster lock. Lineout purred, 12 from 12 won. Made 15 metres and 14 tackles. Really seemed determined to make a big impression and he did that. Took his try well.
Peter O'Mahony – 8
Combative outing for the centurion and almost broke free for a try in the first half. Was to the fore defending his team-mates during the pushing and shoving at the start of the second half as Scotland lost their temper. He didn’t. Two crucial lineout steals when the game was in the mix. Never took a backward step. Special night for a special player.
Josh van der Flier – 8
Made 21 tackles and stole a lineout. May not be obvious but the flanker, again having to do 80 minutes, does a huge amount of work. Ireland wouldn’t be the team they are without him.
Caelan Doris – 8
Top-tackler with 22 and carried 32 metres but it seemed more. Also won a turnover and was a lineout option. His ability to dicate the terms of contact in possession sets up the platforms for many of Ireland’s plays.
REPLACEMENTS
Rónan Kelleher (for Sheehan 48) – 7
All action half an hour from the hooker. Buzzed around.
Dave Kilcoyne (for Porter 48) – 6
Ref penalised him at one scrum but did what was required with the game over as a contest.
Finlay Bealham (for Furlong 48) – 7
Pushing for a start next week. Made seven tackles and prominent in open play.
James Ryan (for Beirne 48) – 5
Battled hard through an injury we won’t know the extent of. Looked very uncomfortable post-match.
Jack Conan (for O’Mahony 48) – 6
Got some vital minutes under his belt and carried well.
Conor Murray (Lowe h/t) – 7
Game was over as a contest when he came on and the experienced scrum-half did what was required.
Jack Crowley (for Sexton 45) – 7
Now the back-up to Sexton, inch-perfect kick for Ringrose’s try.
Stuart McCloskey (for Hansen 22 and 34) – 7
Very competent first appearance of the tournament for the centre. Made 13 tackles and won turned the ball over twice. Can be trusted.
