Ireland warmed up for next week's crunch Rugby World Cup Pool B game against South Africa with a second bonus-point win in a row as they ran in eight tries to defeat Tonga 59-16 in Nantes.

It's a second big score from Andy Farrell's side, who have now put up 20 tries and 142 points in their two games so far, albeit against the two weakest sides in the pool.

Here's how we rated the Irish players at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Hugo Keenan - 7

Some lovely moments from the full-back at times, as he put his body on the line to set up Mack Hansen's brilliant try, and made one excellent counter-attacking run down the touchline early in the second half, while there was also a terrific 50:22 late in the game. On the downside, he was left tackling air twice in the first half after Charles Piutau sidesteps, which on another day could have been costly.

Mack Hansen - 8

In such a short period of time he's become crucial to how Ireland play. Almost set up a try for Porter when he flicked a pass off the ground, but was unlucky to have just knocked it on beforehand. Took his try wonderfully as he stepped in off the right touchline to dart through. Kickchasing is an underrated element of his game, and he also landed a nice 50:22 early on.

Garry Ringrose - 7

Solid without being spectacular in his 50 minutes. Great support play in the lead-up to Sexton's try, and came close to scoring one himself when he just missed Murray's grubber. A big tackle on Piutau in the opening minutes set the tone.

Bundee Aki - 9

Unlucky to not be picked as Player of the Match last week, but there was no doubt on Saturday evening. Even prior to his two tries he was the best player on the pitch and brought variety to his play with seven passes in addition to his 19 carries for 80 metres. Two clean breaks and 10 defenders beaten shows just how much trouble Tonga had dealing with him, even with their own formidable centres of Fakitoa and Akhi. In the form of his life.

James Lowe - 6

Scored a second-half try, but looked slightly off his usual standard. Will be very frustrated after two simple handling errors, one of which probably denied him a second try late on.

Johnny Sexton - 8

Only played 40 minutes but packed a lot into it. His kicking looks as sharp as ever, while he bolted onto Ringrose's pass to finish his try excellently. Also had a big role in Tadhg Beirne's opening try with his bullet-pass back inside to Doris opening the hole in defence. No question of rust after his layoff.

Conor Murray - 8

Could Murray sneak ahead of Gibson-Park for the game against South Africa? Did his chances no harm with an impressive display here. Passing was sharp, and his delayed pass to Ringrose was the making of Sexton's record-breaking score. Almost put Ringrose in for two tries, one from a sniping run off a ruck, and the other from a grubber into the 22.

Andrew Porter - 7

Taken off at half-time to rest the body ahead of facing South Africa, and put in a solid 40-minute shift. Took what he thought would be his try well only for it to be ruled out by the TMO, and was his usual physical presence at the ruck. Earned an excellent jackal penalty in the first half.

Rónan Kelleher - 7

Another who only played 40 minutes, but it was a good day's work for Kelleher who has given Farrell a selection headache for his two hooker spots next week. Lineout throwing was perfect and came up with a solid five tackles and seven carries, with two defenders beaten.

Tadhg Furlong - 7

Gets credit for a long 70-minute shift after having to return following Bealham's HIA. Scrummaged well but was well marshalled any time he got the ball, carrying seven times for just five metres, and wasn't as involved in the passing game as he normally is. Gave away a needless penalty in the build-up to Tonga's first-half try.

Tadhg Beirne - 8

We were tempted to give him a nine, but he took a couple of risks too many in giving away a pair of penalties. Otherwise he was outstanding, running in Ireland's opening try, his third of the tournament. Led the team in tackles with 11 and contributed 11 carries also.

James Ryan - 7

Was tipping along nicely when he was withdrawn on 50 minutes. A lineout steal in the first half was followed by some incredibly physical defending, particularly late in the first half when Ireland were defending their own line.

Peter O'Mahony - 7

Mixed some good with some bad. Contributed well in defence and really impressed as a link man in attack with a couple of offloads and 15 passes, which was behind only the two scrum-halves for Ireland. Gave away a penalty for obstruction, and followed it up with a late yellow card in the first half, ending Ireland's run of 12 games without a sin-bin.

Josh van der Flier - 7

Didn't get on the ball a lot, but generally made his moments count, with an impressive 45 metres run. Got through a lot of dirty work at the breakdown.

Caelan Doris - 8

The only player to have bene involved in every game of 2023 for Ireland, it was another big game from the number 8. A beautiful offload sent Beirne in to score the opener and got himself on the scoresheet when he finished off a maul try. Seven carries and 10 tackles in 53 minutes.

Replacements:

Rob Herring - 7

If Sheehan is fit, it looks like a shootout between he and Kelleher for the other hooker spot next week. Got in for a third try in as many games late on, and was denied another by the TMO following a tap and go penalty.

Dave Kilcoyne - 6

Played the full second half but while he held his own at the scrum, was quiet around the park. Will be interesting to see whether he or Loughman backs up Porter next week.

Iain Henderson - 7

Has played well every time he's been involved this summer, and tonight was the same again. Brings big energy of the bench, particularly in his carrying which was impressive tonight.

Ryan Baird - 7

Another who looked strong off the bench, particularly with a crunching tackle on Siona Vialanu around the hour mark.

Craig Casey - 7

His first act after coming off the bench was to play James Lowe in for the fifth try, and brought plenty of pace to the game when Tonga were growing tired. Tested the defence with a couple of snipes at the ruck.

Ross Byrne - 7

Had a tough act to follow after Sexton's all-action performance and while it took him a while to get going he had Ireland's attack running nicely as the game wore on. Best moment was how he drew in the Tongan defence to play Aki in for his first try.

Robbie Henshaw - 6

Replaced Ringrose early in the second half and put in two strong carries in particular, but was overshadowed by his centre partner.
