NAME: James Ryan
DOB: 24/07/1996
PROVINCE: Leinster
POSITION: Lock
CAPS: 59 (5 tries)
DEBUT: v USA, 10/06/2017
The Ireland vice-captain returned to form in 2022/23, and was instrumental to Ireland's Six Nations Grand Slam success in 2023, playing every minute of the championship and scoring two tries.
One of the best lineout operators in the game, Ryan burst onto the scene when he scored a try just seconds into his debut against the USA in 2017 and has been a first-choice selection when fit ever since.
Like his former Under-20 teammate Andrew Porter, Ryan hit his 50th cap in the 2023 Six Nations against Italy, with four of those appearances coming in the 2019 World Cup in Japan.
